Meet Sharon, Grant Recipient

For 14 years, Sharon worked in the flooring industry as a machine operator, proud of the life she built through her work. In 2002, she experienced a life-altering stroke and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In the years that followed, additional conditions including scoliosis and osteoporosis, along with a history of falls, made it increasingly difficult for her to live safely on her own.

In 2024, Sharon moved into an assisted living community where she could receive daily support while still maintaining a sense of independence. The cost of that care quickly became a challenge. The Floor Covering Industry Foundation provided a grant to help cover her assisted living expenses, easing the financial burden and allowing her to remain in a safe, supportive environment.

Today, Sharon is able to live with greater comfort, dignity, and stability. The support she received has not only helped meet her physical needs, but has also given her peace of mind about her future.

Sharon shared, “This grant has allowed me to live in a place where I feel safe and supported, while still having a sense of independence. I am so grateful for the help.”
